Good to know
A few more
questions?
Here are the essentials. For anything else, you can get in touch directly.
Get in touchDo I need a cloud subscription?
No. Instante Photos runs on your own Mac. Originals, previews and the catalogue stay on the storage you choose. Hardware, internet access and an optional domain may have their own costs.
Can I keep using my NAS?
Yes. Connect a NAS using an SMB share. You can store originals and working files separately – for example, originals on the NAS and previews on your Mac.
Does it work on iPhone, iPad and Android?
The photo website works in the browser and adapts to the screen. No additional mobile app is required. Native mobile apps and automatic phone uploads are not currently included in the download.
Which Macs are supported?
Instante Photo Server requires macOS 14 or later and is intended for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. HDR previews require macOS 15 or later, suitable photos, browsers and displays. Processing speed depends on your Mac and storage.
Are my photos sent to an AI service?
People, pet and duplicate recognition run locally on your Mac. The optional ChatGPT server assistant is separate: when used, your messages and requested diagnostic information are sent to OpenAI. See the privacy notice for details.
Is the app free?
Yes. Instante Photo Server is free to download. The included pet recognition uses a model licensed for non-commercial use only. See the licence information for details.
